Founder Statement
Vanguard Procurement Limited has been my consulting vehicle since 2009. The decision to pivot the business to a retained fractional model came after more than two decades of senior procurement experience watching the same challenge repeat itself across the public and private sectors. Organisations often need serious procurement expertise — the kind that improves cost, supplier performance, commercial governance and delivery confidence — but cannot always justify a full-time senior hire, recruit quickly enough, or secure the specialist support they need at the point of need.
The fractional model changes that. Vanguard works with a small number of clients on a retained basis, providing each with senior procurement expertise at director level through a structured monthly engagement. Every client receives dedicated time, senior judgement and active delivery — not simply advisory recommendations, but procurement work that produces measurable outcomes.
My background spans NHS procurement, central government, housing, infrastructure and large-scale international project environments. I have led complex category strategies, taken on turnaround and transformation mandates as Interim Director of Procurement, recovered stalled procurements, built and transformed procurement functions, and delivered commercial savings at scale. Across those environments, I have been accountable for procurement portfolios exceeding £3bn. That experience is what every Vanguard client has access to, proportioned to their need and their budget.
